L-Theanine is used as an alternative to Ritalin
in children and adults and is effective in treating the symptoms of ADD and ADHD.**
L-Theanine is a free form amino acid which is the
predominant amino acid in green tea leaves. L-Theanine is a derivative of
Glutamic Acid, one of the neurotransmitters and is absorbed in the intestinal
brush-border membrane and incorporated into the brain via the leucine-preferring
transport system of the blood brain barrier. As a result, L-Theanine is a unique
anxiety reducer and mood enhancer that increases alpha waves and alertness. It
promotes relaxation without the drowsiness or negative side effects associated
with other calming agents.
Extensive research and documentation has
demonstrated the safety and efficacy of L-Theanine in many applications such as:
- Heightened mental acuity
- Immune System Support
- Improved learning and concentration
- Cholesterol reduction
- Reduction of negative side effects of
caffeine
